OsseoQuick Tips for Smart Recycling
To make sure everything gets recycled correctly, here are a few simple tips:
Toss it in Loose!
Please don’t put your recyclables in plastic bags. Just place them directly into your cart. (Paper bags are totally fine if you need to use one.)
A Quick Rinse:
Please give bottles, jugs, and containers a quick rinse before tossing them in.
Caps On is A-OK!
You can leave the plastic caps on your bottles.
Flatten Your Cardboard:
Breaking down boxes saves a ton of space in your cart and on our trucks.
Don't Crush It:
It’s actually better to leave bottles and cans in their original shape. This helps the sorting machines identify them correctly!
When in Doubt, Throw It Out:
This is the golden rule! If you’re not sure if something is recyclable, it’s better to put it in the trash. This helps keep the entire batch of recyclables clean.

Here's What to Recycle:
Cans, Cartons & Glass
Just give them a quick rinse!
- Aluminum & Steel Cans: Soda cans, soup cans, veggie cans, etc.
- Cartons: Milk, juice, soup, and broth cartons. Please empty and put the cap back on.
- Glass Bottles & Jars: Any color is fine.
Paper & Cardboard
Please keep it clean and dry!
- Mail, newspapers, and magazines
- Paperboard boxes (like cereal or cracker boxes)
- Cardboard boxes – please flatten them!
Got extra cardboard? No problem! You can flatten and tie it into bundles (no bigger than 3x3x1 feet) and place them next to your cart for free pickup.
Plastics (#1, #2 & #5)
Remember to empty, rinse, and replace the cap!
- This includes most common bottles and containers from your kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom. Just look for the #1, #2, or #5 symbol on the bottom.
Please Keep These Items Out:
To avoid contaminating the good recyclables, please leave these items out of your cart.
All Plastic Bags
This is the most important one!
Tanglers
Wires, ropes, hoses, and cords
Food-Soiled Items
Greasy pizza boxes and used paper plates
Other Plastics
Black plastic, Styrofoam, or items marked #3, #6, or #7
Problem Paper
Egg cartons and shredded paper (the small pieces jam the machines)
Scrap Materials
Metal scraps and wood
Hazardous Items
Electronics, appliances, batteries, and household hazardous waste
To dispose of these please check out our Electronics and Appliances service.
Glass & Ceramics
Auto glass, window panes, or ceramic dishes
When in doubt, it's best to throw it out.
This helps ensure the rest of the recyclables can be processed correctly.
A Very Important Note on
Battery Safety
01
Remove the Batteries
When getting rid of old electronics, try to remove the batteries first.
02
Store Them Safely
Keep used batteries in a container that can’t conduct electricity, like a plastic tub or a glass jar.
03
Find a Drop-Off
Take them to a local electronics disposal store or an official battery drop-off location near you. This ensures they’re handled properly and safely!

One Quick Tip Before You Start:
Please place all your recyclables directly into the cart, nice and loose. No plastic bags, please! They can clog the sorting machines.
