NOTICE:
Storm Cleanup Update – June 12, 2017

Tree and Leaf Debris

Because of the widespread and extensive damage from the storm on Sunday, June 11, the City of Blaine will be assisting residents in removing storm damaged trees and brush throughout the City.

Residents can place cut up trees and brush on the curb lines of their property by Monday, June 19th and City Crews will haul the material away. Please cut up the tree branches and brush in lengths of 6’ – 8’ or less.

In addition, Walters Recycling and Refuse (the City’s refuse contractor) will be doing an extra pick-up beginning immediately for all residents to help residents dispose of downed leaves and small twigs. Material must be placed in a Walters yard waste cart or a biodegradable yard waste bag. This was a metro-wide storm event and there are limited resources available for clean-up efforts. Due to the anticipated high volume of material, please allow a few weeks for material to be picked up.

If residents require extra time, please contact Public Works to make arrangements for a pick up time.

For additional information on tree debris and brush clean-up, please see our storm page on our website or call public works at 763-785-6165, for information on yard waste clean-up call 763-785-6192.

This clean-up is only for tree, brush and leaf debris related to the June 11 storm and IS NOT for garbage or construction material.

2017 City of Blaine – New Premium Garbage Service

Starting January 1st 2017, the City will be replacing its 96 Gallon Unlimited Garbage Service with their new 96 Gallon Premium Service.

The new service will allow residents to dispose of six (6) large or bulky items per year.  If you require more than 6 items to be collected in a calendar year you will need to contact Walters Recycling at (763) 780-8464 to arrange for an additional pick-up.  The cost for this will be itemized and subject to pricing as outlined in the city wide mailer. All fees associated with the collection of items, after your annual allocation of 6 items will be billed directly by Walters Recycling.

The new Premium Service is also changing how Construction Debris and Carpet is collected.  Residents will now be required to contact Walters to order a roll-off dumpster for Construction Debris and Carpet.  Premium Service will receive a discounted rate on roll-off dumpster fees.  All fees associated with the collection of items will be subject to the rates listed on the fee schedule outlined in the city wide mailer and will be billed directly by Walters Recycling.

In addition, the City of Blaine is implementing a new policy on the number of garbage carts residents may have.  Starting January 1st only 3-96 gallon carts will be allowed with Premium Service.  If you have more than 3-96 gallon carts, please leave the extra carts out on your first scheduled pickup day after January 1st.  Walters will remove all but 3 of the carts.
